Starting with the Bank of Montreal's arrival in 1842, the creation of Banker's Row opposite Parliament, the move of most banks to Sparks St., and the creation of the Bank of Canada, the history and architecture of Ottawa's Historic Financial District is a fascinating story. Many interesting and elegant buildings survive, though most have new uses.
