Get an inside look at the only wild bird rehabilitation centre in the Ottawa Valley area! Your guide, Education Coordinator Patty McLaughlin, will take you through the Wild Bird Care Centre and explain how we care for over 2700 injured wild birds each year! As you walk through the building, Patty will explain the purpose of each room, identify the birds in care and discuss the various reasons they were brought to the Centre. She will also describe some of the common injuries that we see and the best ways to treat them, and will show examples of some of the common food items that we offer the wild birds in our care – no, we don't dig up worms for everyone!
Patty will be delighted to answer all of your bird-related questions and will share many interesting bird stories that she has accumulated over the years through her work at the Centre.
The Centre is located within the Stony Swamp Conservation Area along the Beaver Trail, which is a lovely, easy trail to walk. People are invited to walk the trail, and we will send you out with some seeds for any friendly chickadees you might encounter as you stroll through the forest!
Sign-up required!
You must sign up for this walk: Tour space is limited to 20 people. Please call the Centre at (613) 828-2849 between 8 am and 4 pm (daily) or email to register.
