Blended into North Kanata’s high tech park and new suburbs is a remarkable cluster of well preserved heritage buildings dating back to 1839. This walk takes a leisurely 2 km course around what was once known as South March, past creeksides and meadows, providing context and background for these eight historic buildings.
Meet at St John’s Anglican at 325 Sandhill Road in Kanata. From there, we will walk to Klondike Rd, through the backstreets in Morgan’s Grant to old Carp Rd, Maxwell Bridge, Shirley’s Brook path, back to St John’s church.
To find the church, from March Rd turn north on Klondike Road, then turn right on Sandhill. The church will be on the right, just past the cemetery.
Paul Johanis is an Ottawa native, history buff, and greenspace advocate. In 2016 and 2017, he led walks for Jane's Walk on the theme of the Civic Hospital and the Central Experimental Farm.
