We will walk through Parliament Hill and its history, from shacks to the refurbishment of today's Parliament Buildings. With the participation of the walk participants, we'll examine the effects of the fire of 1916, and will consider the following themes and questions: the hill as a vibrant theatre, do our monuments honor 'good' people, and how do we decide who the 'good' people are? What is missing from Parliament Hill? What does the future hold for this important public arena?

Trajet

We'll meet near the statue of Sir Wilfrid Laurier on Parliament Hill. From there, we will walk around Parliament Hill, visiting selected monuments and observing the buildings, ending at the Centennial Flame (across from the north end of Metcalfe St.).

Au sujet du guide

Since 2002, Francis has been sharing his passion for history, first as a guide-in-class during his studies and then as a teacher of Canadian history. He even went so far as to found Tour de ville, his own company specializing in school visits, in connection with the history curricula of Ontario. He also offers historical tours for the general public.
