Indigenous Walks is a walk-and-talk tour through downtown Ottawa exploring artworks, monuments, architecture, and landscape from an Indigenous perspective. This tour explores the ideas of third spaces and what that could mean for truth and reconciliation. It considers Indigenous Peoples relationship with the land and how "third places" exist within the context of first peoples' territories.
We'll meet in the lobby at 150 Elgin St. (former headquarters of Shopify), near the corner of Elgin and Gloucester. The walk will stay within the Elgin St and Laurier area.
As noted, we will be indoors for a short period at the beginning of the walk.
Jaime Morse (Koebel) is the owner of Indigenous Walks and has been guiding tours since 2014. The tour is a way for Jaime to share her research, stories, and explorations of the city with folks who are interested in an Indigenous perspective. As well as guiding walking tours, Jaime is a mother, a dancer, and an Educator at the National Gallery of Canada. Jane’s Walk Ottawa-Gatineau was a launching pad for Indigenous Walks’ very first tours.
