Makerspace North

A true place for possibility! Makerspace North is a 19,000 -square-foot warehouse transformed into a harmonious and lively mixed-use space. Taking the form of an industrious workshop, Mixlab incubator, and community hub, Makerspace North works with organizations and individuals to develop a city full of makers and creatives by advancing ambitious pursuits.

We’re a mixed used space, and Sundays are a bit slower than most days. We will tour the warehouse space and showcase our equipment: woodworking tools like the CNC machines, routers, and equipment through CNC Ottawa. Laser cutters and tooling equipment. We’ll talk a bit about each of the businesses and makers operating out of our space, and our plans for the year ahead.

Wear good walking shoes — the floors are mostly concrete.

It would be great to hear from participants about their current projects or back-burner projects — things they want to do or create but haven’t had a chance to yet.

We are partnering with our friends the Ottawa Tool Library, which is co-located with Makerspace North.  The Ottawa Tool Library tour will follow this one at noon.

We meet at the front office, which is at the back side of the 250 City Centre building. We are up the ramp at the end of City Centre avenue, at Bay 216.

This 'walk' takes place indoors.

Details on finding Makerspace North:
Finding Makerspace North may be part of your walking adventure. We are located on the second level of 250 City Centre, Bay 216, right above Art-Is-In Bakery.  Most people should park on the ground level and come up the stairs on the south end of the building.  You may park in the ground lot free for one hour (check on the machine that this is still the free interval) with a ticket.  You'll need to enter your licence plate number in the parking machine.  Alternatively, arrive by bicycle, walk from downtown, Preston St., or Hintonburg or come by transit (Bayview Station is across the street).  Please see the  map below for your convenience.

Makerspace North is accessible space. If you have vehicle transportation, have them drop you off on the upper level of City Centre.  If you require close access parking, there are a limited number of spaces available on the second level of City Centre. Take the ramp on the south side of the building up to the second level, and look for Bay 216 “Makerspace North.”

Parking on the ground level is free for a time, but you need to register by putting your licence plate number in the system.

There is a map showing the location of Bay 216 in the Photo Gallery below.
