As many articles, new stories, and social media posts have already highlighted, there are more and more little free libraries popping up on streetsides and sidewalksides all over our cities. Though some have sparked some controversy, those who host them are passionate about them.

This walk will take us through the streets of Westboro/Hintonburg and area, to visit just a few of the little libraries hosted by our community. We'll chat about the history of the recent movement supporting these libraries worldwide, and the journey they've had in our own area.

You're welcome to bring books to leave, and a book bag to carry some books back for yourself!

We will meet in the parking lot on Island Park across from Helena St. and walk a circuit through the neighbourhood that will have us encounter a few little free libraries.

Accessibility note:  We will be mostly keeping to sidewalks and paths, occasionally crossing streets.

About the walk leader

I live and work in Westboro and... I absolutely love reading. I also love programmes and ideas that support literacy and access to reading. Little Free Libraries are an exciting idea, bringing communities together and becoming very popular. I have yet to set one up on my own front lawn, but I smile with delight when passing one as I drive or walk by in my neighbourhood... or anywhere!
