Bridges: Connecting, Consternation and Community
Bronze sculpture of young readers at the Manotick Public Library
Bridges in Manotick are not only essential for crossing the Rideau River, connecting neighbourhoods and services, they are also corridors of concern. Endless truck traffic make some trips noisy and treacherous. But just off the beaten path, discover islands of serenity—a 'passive house' designed with 'eyes on the street', an artist's park, and a Village Square rooted in the past, but presently being revitalized for the future.
The walk leaders will be joined by three additional speakers:
- Grace Thrasher, who will discuss concerns about large trucks on Bridge St.
- Bruce Fanjoy, who will describe Millview Passive House
- Elaine Eagen, who will tell us about Watson’s Mill.
