Bridges: Connecting, Consternation & Community

We will meet in front of the Manotick Public Library at 5499 South River Dr.. From there, we will walk along Bridge St. to A. Y. Jackson Park, then on to Millview Passive House. The walk will continue to Watson's Mill and Dickinson Square, where the formal walk will end. From here, participants may disperse to explore the Village core at their leisure, or walk with us back to the Manotick Library. Our return route to the library will include walking across the dam and through a 'secret pathway' to South River Drive, and past a few additional local landmarks (Chris Field, the Curlng Rink, etc.).

Accessibility: The main part of the walk is accessible, following sidewalks and paved pathways. However, on our return route to the Library, there are steps that go over the dam. One doesn't need to go over the dam, you can simply circle back and catch the walk on the east side of the dam to walk back to the Manotick Library.

Parking: There is lots of parking at the Manotick Library.

Anne is Co-President of the Manotick Culture, Parks and Recreation Association (MCPRA). She is a long-time resident of the Village of Manotick, and has been active in bringing groups together to enhance parks and pathways in the Village. MCPRA has offered several walks in the past for Jane's Walk which were very well-attended.

Irene is President of the Manotick Village and Community Association. She lives in the house once owned by A. Y. Jackson, artist with the Group of Seven. Irene will share some anecdotes about A. Y. Jackson and discuss how the history was integral to the park's design.
