Kilborn Allotment Gardens

Kilborn Allotment Gardens (Pleasant Park entrance) / Les jardins communautaires Kilborn (Entrée du ch. Pleasant Park)
The Kilborn Allotment Gardens are Ottawa's largest community gardens, with over 400 plots. They are flanked to the west by a paved path created in 2011, which allows a constant flow of passers-by to discover the gardens. Gardeners come from all over the world, creating a multicultural dynamic of cuisine and horticulture. The Jardiniers Kilborn Gardeners have worked with city staff in recent years to increase cooperation between gardeners, for example, by maintaining the communal compost piles and operating an equipment exchange depot that allows gardeners to share surplus equipment and plants with one another, and indeed with anyone who passes by. The gardens are a true urban oasis, hosting wildlife and pollinator plants as well as agricultural endeavours.
Four or five gardeners will host us in their garden and tell us the specifics of how they produce food.
