Growth for the Future of Affordable Housing in Centretown

Centretown Citizens Ottawa Corporation (CCOC) is a non-profit affordable housing provider that has been operating in Centretown for 50 years. Our organization is proud to have started with our first building in Centretown West and we have since expanded to other areas of Ottawa, including Carlington, Merivale/Mayview, Rideau/Rockcliffe and Mechanicsville. We launched a new Strategic Plan in 2023, and we have been working on strategic growth initiatives as we plan for the future of the organization.

We encourage folks to join us on this walk where they'll be able to view a number of our properties and learn more about affordable housing and the future growth plans of the organization!

Location
Route

We'll meet in front of the building at 170 Booth Street. From there, we'll walk east on Albert St to 140 Bronson, south on Bronson to 54 Primrose, back to Bronson and east on Lisgar to Percy and south to MacLaren (to 608 & 515 MacLaren and 341 Lyon), and lastly down to and east on Gilmour St, where we will view numbers 482 & 415 and the walk will end.

Accessibility: Although this walk is accessible to folks using accessibility devices, the distance travelled and the uphill climb from Booth St to Bronson along Albert may present some difficulty. City sidewalks along the route may also include some uneven surfaces, due to construction in the area. We encourage everyone to attend but caution folks to be mindful of these challenges..

About the walk leader

Sarah Button is the Executive Director of Centretown Citizens Ottawa Corporation (CCOC), a not-for-profit housing provider offering housing for low- and moderate-income people. Sarah is eager to share CCOC's role as an affordable housing provider and their plans for future growth of the organization to address the shortage of affordable housing in Ottawa. She sees this walk as a great opportunity to meet the community and help folks get more insight into the service CCOC provides by creating, maintaining, and promoting affordable housing for low-and moderate-income people in and around Centretown.
